It works.
Not sure about all the other reviews about not knowing how this program works or whatnot but I’m guessing it’s NOT intuitive. But, first off, this app works and I’m guessing it works as advertised (showing read/write speeds). As to how accurate it is, that remains to be seen. For me, I am able to verify my SD card’s R/W speeds with the SD card’s claims.
Now, for those who are having a hard time using this app, FIRST you need to select a drive. How? Click FILE and then SELECT TARGET DRIVE. Alternatively, click on the little cog icon in the center of the app above the START button. To start the test, click on START. If you want to stop the test, click START again. I understand this isn’t exclusively stated but that’s how the app works.
There’s a bunch of info underneath the gauges and I wish I could disable that as all I’m interested in are the R/W speeds and nothing more. I’m using this in my MBPr and using it as a data drive and nothing too intensive.
I’m giving this 3-stars only because of the START button not reflecting STOP when the test is running as well. I’m guessing this R/W test is only performing a redamentary R/W test and nothing too specific. If you need something more indepth, I think you’ll need another app. Other than that, this app works as advertised (showing R/W speeds of a given drive).
