This is good to check your drives before useing them to record to. This is not meant to check regular drives or thumb drives. This is to make sure a SSD Drive is fast enought to recored video to with the black magic shuttle recorders. each format needs different requirements, this lets you know if it will record the format you desire before starting a shoot and having the SSD drive fail due to slow wright speeds. Not to check how fast you macbook hard drive speed. As far as the repeating the tests, they tell you that in the description, it is to indue that it will keep that speed or slow down and fail after a short time, again just so you know before starting a video shoot.
